Update June 6-19: Montana and Summit County

Updated: Jul 7, 2021

June has been a month of adventures for us! Some of the highlights include visiting Hamilton, MT, including a trip to Corwin Galleries. While in Montana Colter worked furiously to finish a piece for the Summit Arts Showcase and start pieces for the Business Card Show at the JKR Gallery. As a family we enjoyed camping, floating the Blackfoot and spending time with extended family and friends.

Shows & Festivals

  • Our first experience with The Summit Arts Festival was a positive experience. It's daunting to travel with artwork and have it exposed to the outdoor elements. We put together a booth using peg board and zip ties, and it miraculously weathered the wind really well. We were thrilled to sell 10 original pieces!

  • We submitted work to both the Art Show International Color and Animal exhibitions, and received a talent award in the Color exhibition for "Last Minute."

  • We submitted work to the America All Media 2021 show, and will find out results mid-July.

  • Coming up in July is the 2nd Annual JKR Business Card Show. We will be submitting 10 business card sized landscapes, which will sell for $80 each. Colter spent time in MT cutting the board to size and prepping the panels. Painting them to come!

Galleries

  • We were able to visit Corwin Galleries this week. It is selling season in Hamilton, MT, and clients are visiting the gallery and purchasing work regularly. Still waiting for my first sale, but have had people interested in the Chasing Dusk triptych that is there.

Commissions

  • Timpanogos is on my radar for the upcoming month. I have worked to put together a reference, and am still trying to put together an ideal scene.

  • Big Sur is also in progress for July. I am working to create a reference that will represent the scene well.

Connecting

  • This week we got to know Katie, a studio assistant for James Corwin, better. We found out that we have a common love for listening to good books, and were excited to get some new author recommendations from her.

Adventure

  • Over the past two weeks we have driven to Montana and back, visiting Bozeman, Missoula and Hamilton in the process. The best way to spend time in MT during the summer is in the outdoors, so we floated the Blackfoot, camped by a creek, went on lots of runs, and played pickle ball. The hours of driving were definitely worth it!

  • We also explored Summit County, UT as part of the Art Festival. We were excited to drive past Deer Creek Reservoir and Jordanelle Reservoir and hope we can go back to play in the water later this summer.

  • Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there!

Thank you to everyone who is supporting us in this journey! We are so grateful for your influence in our lives, and are excited about the progress that is happening.
